There are times
when you just need to be sad,
even if you know better,
even if it’s not worth it
even if it makes you feel vulnerable
even if it makes you question your worth
even if it makes you sad to feel sad.
There are times when you can’t get around the sadness,
can’t activity-it to the side,
or go around it.
You can’t cover it up with happy things,
sweet things,
tender, beautiful things.
Sad is sometimes just itself,
just sad,
just droopy,
and painful
and important.
Sometimes you have to see it,
be it,
feel it,
and walk your way into it.
